Here are my two favorites from the app store, the best one to purchase and the best one to snag for free.
Tweetie 2 (2.99): A very good update from the original Tweetie. The overall interface is simple, and easy to use. There is a toolbar on the bottom in which you can choose whether to navigate to your new posts, @mentions, messages, favorites, and a ‘more’ tab where you can view your profile, go to a specific user, a nearby function which takes your current location and sees who is tweeting nearby, a trends tab, and a search function. The posting function also features a photo posting option which automatically uploads the picture to a photo host of your choosing and puts the URL right in your post. Landscape keyboard function, and support for multiple accounts.
Overall I rate this a 5/5
If you have the few dollars to spend, I highly recommend this app.
But also, sometimes you just want to find the best free apps when you’re low on cash. Then I recommend the following:
TweetDeck (FREE): This twitter client is set by default in three columns, which you can click and browse. You can also add new columns ranging from user groups, to search, to favorites and trends. The 3 columns that are already set are the recent tweets, @replies, and direct messages. It is easy to navigate and switch between columns. The bottom toolbar has a counter that tells you how many tweets and mentions are unread since last refresh, a refresh button, an add column button, a settings tab, and a ‘more’ button which features a quick follow option. The posting function is one of my favourites as it has a #tag feature, a +friend feature, a link feature, a photo feature, a location feature, and a landscape keyboard feature, which is manual in this application instead of relying on the accelerometer.
Overall I rate this a 5/5.
